A few weeks ago there was a discussion about rub rails. I can't find the posts now. I would like to replace my rub rails on my Cal 27. I remember that someone on here has some available. Please let me know where to find them. Also. A painter friend of mine said that they can be sanded down and painted. He gave me a can of something that is made for vinyl car bumpers that makes paint adhere to rubber. He said to try it. Forgive me I left the can inside the boat and don't have it with me. Anyone ever painted a rub rail before? Or is it easier to just replace it? Thanks. Gary

Is a used rubrail of any value to anyone?

I removed my rubrail. Long story but I had to cut about 8' off of it. A friend of mine at the boatyard Has a Cal 28, and decided to sand his rubrail down. It came out pretty good. Another friend of mine there gave me a can of "???" (I'll have to get back to you on that)...But it is a special chemical that is designed to make paint stick to rubber. It is actually designed for those color matching rubber Car Bumpers. He said it would work if I decided to paint my rub rail. I currently plan to order a new one so I don't have any need for either things. If anyone is interested or needs a used rubrail suitable for a 22'-24' Cal let me know. Thanks Gary
