Have you folks ever experience this or a friend of yours, I was taking a Hunter 340, 2000 year model, while under way offshore motorsailing I heard a rattle and found the rubrail gone and in the prop, cut the engine and the whole rub rail was off, it,s is only attached under the anchor roller with no other fastners, and by the looks of it no glue whatsoever.any clue?? Thanks in advance, Marc

rub rail problem

if i remember correctly the rub rail is one piece from bow to bow on that model. The should be a "T" shaped edge from the hull and cabin joint that the rail mounts over. Is it possible the mount for the rub rail was broken? or was the boat ever damaged at or near the rub rail ? Not sure how it could just "fall" off. Would be interested to know what happened when you get a better answer. I think there is more here then you may be aware of.

Rub rail gone

Pete, there was no damage to the T shape rail that holds the rub rail, and no signs of any adhesive either, still perplexed !!!

Hello Exactly the same thing happened to my 2001 340 several yrs ago. We had to cut the rub rail to get it off the prop. When the yard replaced the rail, they screwed it into the retainer from the bottem so it would never come off again. It has held up well.
