RPM Gauge

Should the RPM gauge read 0 (zero) when the engine is off? Ours stays right around 1 RPM. Do I need to get it adjusted? Is there something wrong with the gauge?We have a 2001 Hunter 320 18hp Yanmar diesel.

Its normal

My 290 has same yanmar engine 18 horse and the rpm's are usually 1 0r more.

Mine reads somewhere between 3 and 7,ooo. It should zero out when you turn the key on.

My RPM Gange never goes to zero.

When you turn the engine off it stays in 800 to 1000 range.
