Does anyone know the best way to replace a soft cabin sole on a 1983 hunter 31? Seems like it might be a common problem , i have seen a couple with some softness around the dinnete area. Is there a right way? How much of a pain is it? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg

Call hunter

Greg, Catalina is usually of great help with their customer service, even on old boats. I would assume that Hunter would want that same reputation and though they would not want to repair it for you they should have good advice as to how you could do it. They have probably had calls on it before and hopefully cared enough to determine and advise a correction. good luck r.w.landau

Hmmm

Hi Greg, Interested to hear/see what you come up with -- we own an 83 H34 now, with very similar problem!... I've been considering injecting the area with epoxy (into the sole) & see how that goes... also must stop the leaks that caused the area to get wet! (not exactly sure of the sources yet)... Guess the worst case is ripping out most of the built in furniture & replacing the sole... any ideas where we can obtain suitable replacment wood?

Look in the photo forum

There are some pictures in the photo forum of this project. It is a job but far from impossible. On the 31' you would need to remove the dining settee only. When you replace the floor you want to either epoxy or coat the underside of the floor so this does not happen again. You also want to make sure that the drain for the ice box goes into the bilge instead of going into the liner.
