I have a 1986 catalina 36, the front starboard side engine mount is loose. I can pull the bolts out by hand. is there wood in side the area where the engine mount is supposed to be screwed to, and what is the best fix?
I too had this malady when I went to remove the engine in my C-30. In my case I had a bolt completely corrode off leaving part of the threads in the hole. I removed the rusty bolt remains by drilling a smaller hole in the bolt and working an easy-out into the shank and unscrewing the offending part. I used some small teak shims and installed a new stainless bolt into the hole along with some West System epoxy with filler. I sprayed the shank of the bolt with Pam as a poor man's "mold release". The bolt is now in solid and can be removed if necessary. It's been fine for the last 2 years. Good Luck!
