I have an older Autohelm ST30 wind instrument that uses a Rotavectas transducer. The instrument head indicates no signal from the transducer. Is there a way to check the transducer for signal? Is this basically a set of electrical contacts that make and break with each rotation?

Hate to say this, but...

The Rotavecta was a really bad design, and never worked well.
If you can swing it, I'd suggest upgrading to a proper MHU, and wind guage.
