I have had some problems with halyard wrap on a Harken jib furler on my H23. Per the installation manual, Harken recommends a halyard restrainer if the sheave is too close to the forestay.
The manual photos and photos of the restrainer on-line look like its sheave is v-grooved for a wire halyard. Mine is rope, probably about 1/2 inch. Hard to tell if the rope would pass through the sheave with enough room.
Has anyone used one of these, and did you use rope successfully? If not, is there a way to have a rope halyard lower down and wire for the top few feet, to enable use through the restrainer (I can't picture a way to splice wire to rope...). I also can't picture ability to use an all wire halyard.
Thanks, Peter
