Double halyard rope clutch (looks to be original) mounted on starboard cabin roof, near cockpit of a 1981 Hunter 30 has a broken spring. This is a stainless clutch with an "S" engraved on the side and what looks like a dolphin superimposed over the "S". Anyone know who is the manufacturer or where I can find a replacement spring? Schaefer rope clutch
Scott, I had a 1984 Hunter 34 with the same rope clutch problem. Schaefer was the manufacturer and I was told they do not carry the springs. I tried a few used equipment rigging companies to no avail. I put up with the broken spring until I sold the boat. I believe the only answer is to replace the clutch. Tim "Gale Force II"

I had the same problem, broken springs. I checked with Schaefer and they said they no longer make parts for this model.

Twist tie
I have the same year hunter 30, one of my springs is broken too! I just use a twist tie, to lock it in the up position. I could not find parts when i looked last year. The twist tie works fine and was free.
