Has anyone sailed recently in the area of the naval base?

I know exactly where in the East coast of Puerto Rico you are referring to and no I have not been there recently but I would advise you get familiar with the restricted areas and explosives anchorages that surround the base.

Yes, they found an unexploded bomb outbin Culebra a few weeks back. This was in Flamenco beach and the navy explosives people detonated it.
I will ask around as it looks cool on the charts.

Have not sailed to Roos Rds PR but have served there for 3 yrs. My son was born there in 1962. I did do a little sailing near the base and it is neat. There is a large harbor there and we serviced the black discreet submarines (US) during and before the Bay of Pigs fiasco. We also serviced the black unlabeled aircraft. (I was the Electronics Tech for the air control tower, comm. facility, and Operations building. Great place! Chief, US Army ret. & USN ET1

It is just that after 9/11 a lot of areas became restricted around military installations and it is the mariner's responsibility to keep himself informed and to avoid them. I remember many years ago being chased out of a restricted area in Culebra by a Coast Guard cutter. Times have changed and today they might impound the boat of a trespasser.

News to me. Like I said it has been a lot of years (35+). Well I guess use of the Bay is a great plus for sailors, please post pictures.
