I feel warmer already

I'm SO ready for the rOnDAYvous!!! If it's anywhere near as good as the last few, it'll rock! Hopefully, details as to location and exact date will be finalized in a week or so. Then let the sign-ups begin! Let's make this the biggest and best ever. Here's a shot from the last gathering, in Black Rock Harbor, CT: about a dozen O'Days lined up along the finger pier at Captains Cove Seaport. Talking about the rOnDAYvous means that sailing season can't be far off. Pete s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ

Prize for furthest distance

Mike Chan: C'mon up and join the party! I reckon we'll have to nail down the date fairly soon to give you plenty of time to travel from Florida. (You ARE sailing in, aren't you?) Seriously, if you want to join the fun, you won't be the first to come from some distance away -- but you probably would win the prize for furthest distance traveled. Right now, John and Mary Meister hold the record, but they only had to fly in from Wisconsin. Can you top that? And if you want to hang out with fellow O'Day owners (something I highly recommend) without heading to the tristate area, why not get together with a bunch of Florida O'Dayers. Pick a place and a time and you're in business. All it takes is a couple over-enthusiastic cheerleader types to get the ball rolling and keep it rolling. (And remember that organizing a rOnDAYvous, like running a ship, is not an exercise in democracy; opinions are welcomed, but not binding.) So maybe we'll see you (and a whole lot of others) at the 2006 rOnDAYvous. Stay tuned for details. Pete s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ

rOnDAYvous Envy

Hi Mike, Do you have a mailing list or a newsletter of any sort for this event. I would really like to be included in the loop. It's a bit far for us to travel, being in the flatlands of the midwest, but this has my interest and who knows what kind of airline deals I can scrounge up. Thanks Gregg

You're on the list

Gregg: I guess it's safe to say that Mike C and I are the unofficial head cheerleaders/instigators for the rOnDAYvous. I'm keeping an email address list for those who indicate they're likely to come (or definitely are). I'll be sure to add your name and e-address. Like you said, who knows? You may come up with an airfare that's too good to pass up, given the overwhelming appeal of coming to the rOnDAYvous. We'd love to have you join us. I can guarantee there will be others who take the overland route to the event, and info on local hotels will be posted ASAP. Pete Little Silver, NJ

so coooooool

Gregg, one of the things that I noticed at the rOnDAYvous we had 2 years ago at Liberty Landing in Jersey City was that 2 boat owners and their spouses came a far distance CHesapeak Region and Wisconsin) and with NYC a ferry ride away were able to visit NYC......just an added bonus of having the rOnDAYvous situated so close to the Big Apple this year Mike C. as Peter said, maybe a good airfare could allow you to come
