Rollerfurler line

I will be installing a rollerfurler on my 77 OD25 this spring and am considering how to run the furler line back to the cockpit without creating to much of a tripping hazard. The high cockpit coaming complicates the installation. I am thinking about bring it across the deck from the base of the aft bow pulpit stanchion and then along the side of the cabin or over the top. I would appreciate any ideas and tips that have worked good for you.Thanks,Paul Palmer

Furling line

Paul,Mine is run through 3 fairleads (OD27), starting at the aft pulpit stanchion along the toe rail to a jam on the port coaming. There is a possible tripping hazard bringing the line up to the coaming, but there are lots of things to hold on to entering/exiting the cockpit. I haven't had anyone get their foot hung up on it yet. Bringing it across the foredeck to the cabin could also introduce a tripping hazard. I have a photo posted in the Photo/Project forum that was in response to a traveler question that shows the furling line at the cockpit coaming. I can also post a photo from the bow looking aft, or send it via e-mail.Dan

Fulring Line on O'Day 25

I also have a furler on my 25.As with the other respondents, my line runs through a block at the base of the aft pulpit stanchion, then through blocks at the base of the two port stanchions. I tie off on a small cleat placed at the base of the coaming. This has never caused me any difficulty. I suppose you could place the cleat at the top of the coaming, but I would suspect this more of a trip hazard.I would also think you would have more of a trip hazard bringing it across the foredeck and along the cabin top. I know I tend to walk these areas frequently, both while sailing and at the dock.

furler lines

I have a 272, but should be the same configuration re the furling line. I ran mine on the port side and through the base loop on the stanchions. I think that is standard. Works like a charm.Ben
