Haven't really had that much of a problem. When you have the sail out on a calm day, check the batten pockets with binoculars.
If you have a high Mp digital camera with optical zoom, you might be able to zoom in on the pockets and any damage. Send photos to Neil Pryde for their comment and feedback.
Does your halyard have enough tension? Mast straight?
There is supposedly a new skinny batten design but it requires sail mods.
I keep quite a bit of tension on outhaul when I furl and take the sail in further than the mark.
It might be worth dropping the sail and checking that the Velcro flap that holds the battens in is not bulging out. You will need a flat stick at least a foot long to peel the Velcro in the slot. A paint stir stick cut to width and sanded smooth works okay as does a piece of batten. I didn't have a plastic ruler to try.
