I'm in need of a jib furler for my E25. I'm thinking of a CDI FF2. How about some comments from folks who have one of these or who have had success with another brand of jib furler. I used a CDI FF1 on my Hurley 16 (twin keel) and really liked it.

The cdi seems to be the low end of the furlers, but I've had one on my E28 since I've owned the boat and it's worked fine. Others at the marina are happy with theirs. Unless you plan to sail the Southern Ocean, the CDI should be plenty adequate.

Three years ago I bought new sails and the sailmaker made me a deal on a Schaefer SnapFurl for my E-23. I push my boat pretty hard at times and was a little concerned as to whether the unit would hold up OK, as the boat is at the upper end of the range specified for the 500. The factory told me they had worked fine on boats up to 28', so I went ahead with the deal. I'm real happy with this setup and would buy another - my buddy with a larger boat has their 750 unit and has had zero problems. With any furlers it is important to keep some tension on the furling line when unfurling the sail, and to tension up the forestay, if it is adjustable, when rolling it in or out.
