hood 705 roller furling system on 1989 26.5'. using the roller furling our boat, the slim shackle attaching the foresail to the furling drum scrapes against the back side of the hole in the foredeck under which the drum is situated. the rake of the mast is good and the forestay and furling appeared to be attached to the hull iron in the front of the bow correctly - or someone may say not!! the shackle is attached directly from the drum to the eye ring on the front 0f the sail. loosening the halyard or tightening it has little effect. can anyone help please. it is almost as if the lower foresyay attachment should be another two or three inches more forward to stop the chaffing problem. john.

Mine chafed also

I have a 33.5 with below deck drum. I rigger noticed the chaffing on the fiberglass, aft of the drum. The reason was that the forestay was too loose. Tightening it up seemed to help. Hold the forestay and pull back hard, the drum should not hit the deck. Mine did. Roc
