Hi everyone, I pwn a 2008 Beneteau Oceanis 40, my outhail on the mainsail furling pulls almost straight down rather than aft as the sail is being unfurled. Is there a stopper that can be installed to stop the line a ways before the clew to help with that angle?

Thanks in advance.

The car should slide back as the sail unfurls, so it continues to pull both down and aft. If the car isn’t sliding back well enough clean the car and the track with soapy water. Ours gets sticky once or twice a season. US Spars also recommends lubricating the car periodically, and they say McLube (presumably OneDrop) works well for that. I use a Teflon based lubricant once in a while, but YMMV with that, as I’ve heard using something too slippery can cause flat spots on the ball bearings.
