I am going take my mast down on my 1981 Hunter 33 to move it and wondered if there is any maintenance that can be performed on the roller furling gear such as lubicration?

Restitch exposed clew

You might want to have a sailmaker restitch the clew of the main sail where it attaches to the outhaul. The stitches came out of mine, deteriorated from the sun. The sail is in great shape, (it's a 2000 Hunter 340) but the sailmaker said it's a good idea to have the few stitches that are exposed to the sun restitched every four years or so. By the way, it only cost me $65.

What brand furling do you have?

If it is the old CDI type, you should lubricated with Teflon grease. Remove the plastic two-piece drum and lubricate the section under it. There are no bearings to worry about.
