Hunter 23.5 Indian Lake
I just picked up our new rf jib for our 23.5 with cdi furler . The person described the jib as a 101 I think which I had never heard of we had a 110 on our 23 that was hanked on . Can someone give me a ball park on how long and what size lines I need for them to come back to the cockpit . The boat is at the lake which is an hour drive . I would like to be able to go with the jib and sheets rather than make another trip back home to west marine . If they are a little long I can deal with that .

If you ever want to or think you'd want to put a larger headsail on, make the sheets longer.

But a good starting point is

1. Measure from the forestay back to your winches, figure two wraps around both

2. Measure, when the sail is UN furled, the distance back from the clew to the forward lowers across the boat and back to the winch with a few wraps plus extra

Use the biggest dimension.

Or go to the West Marine Advisors, on line or in their catalog, they have some good recommendations.

Jib Sheets

In general, 1.5 times the length of the boat is sufficient. If your sheets run through aft foot blocks and then forward to the winch, your sheets may need to be longer. If your existing sheets are the correct diameter and length, we can duplicate them.

from New England Yacht Rigging

This is also what I remember from several previous posts.

No one realizes the care and attention that the SBO store goes to which is why Hunter went to them to handle Hunter retail parts and in some cases where those parts are not available, Phil Herring will give it the old try to come up with something. MMSailor, you are correct along with Stu and the others who recommend them.

The sail is a 110 which is the standard as it is not recommended for a larger genoa. The owners manual recommends 30 feet per genoa sheet for that sail. If you want to add 5 feet, you should be fine at 35 feet per sheet line.
