I have a '07 H33 with the standard Selden Roller Furling Head Sail. I'm entereing my 2nd season with this boat and this year, the head sail will not furl unless I ease most pressure on the jib halyard. I didn't have this issue last year. Any ideas on what is going on and how to resolve this?

I do not have a Selden but . . .

check that the upper fitting isn't binding or dragging. Our Furlex needs lubrication periodically.

Hard to diagnose this one blind, but....

What did you do differently this year rigging the sail vs. last year.
Did you lube the furler at the halyard fitting and tack?
Is the furling line that leads to the cockpit running free or does it bind anywhere.

Do you have a halyard retainer at the masthead (below). It comes standard with every Furlex. This is the most common problem (halyard wrap around the forestay) for any furler system. Look for that first. Furlex is the best system out there and I have seen minimal problems with them. Make sure your luff tension is adequate and make sure there are no other halyards aloft interferring with the rotation of the upper swivel.

Good thoughts Bill. Could be jib halyard or the spinnaker halyard that is just above the jib.

Thanks all. I'll climb up this weekend and take a closer look at the upper fitting. I seems like the culprit is somehow involved there.

Feel free to climb if you wish but why? You should be able to see if you are getting a wrap or if another halyard is interfering. If you suspect the upper swivel, just pull the jib down and inspect/lube-if-needed.

Sorry if I misunderstood.
