Roller Furling halyard restrainer on H23

Has anyone put a halyard restrainer on the mast of a H23 with roller furling? Where did you locate it so that it does not interfere with the operation of the roller furler. If this question does not make sense, I can discuss it in more detail. - but I don't want to go into the explenation of my problem unless someone is interested.Thanks in advance.Bill Leathen

Schaefer Halyard Restriner

I have a Hunter 23 with a Kenyon mast and a Snapfurl CF-500 roller furling that the previous owner installed without a halyard restrainer (as was suggested in the installation instructions) and I was experiencing halyard wrap. I installed a Schaefer brand halyard restrainer bracket immediately below the exit point of the halyard from the mast. I mounted it with 10-32 machine screws in tapped holes with loctite. With the sail fully raised the attach point of the halyard shackle of the upper bearing swivel is just at the lower point of the restrainer. Your location may vary depending on the upper bearing location when the sail is fully raised. Your roller furling instructions should give more detailed information.
