Hello All, I am interested to hear opinions about furlers for the H-22. I sail to have fun, not compete, but that doesn't mean I won't put the rail in the water any chance I get. I am looking for the the simplest, low frills model that will work and work for a long time. I would like to stay under the $500.00 mark Sail changes are not that big of an issue. I have five headsails and usually only use the stock 110% and occasionally a 150%. I will do the installation myself. Please let the comments fly!!! I value your opinions. Jim

I would like to know also

I have considered this a couple of times. The cost of sail modification (luff tape, and sumbrella area) seems to be as expensive as the furler for an H22. I keep putting it off because of the unknowns of the best way (and cheapest) to make this change.

Take a look, Sail, Etc.

Jim, if you'd like to take a look at my CDI feel free. I think it cost like $375.00 new, installs easily and is very easy to maintain and operate. If you want to take her for a sail, you can do that as well. Feel free to grab it anytime you want. I know you and Eric will take good care of her. Ball 69. Tim

Here's what I did...

I installed a CDI Flexible Furler on my H22 when I had it, and it was the single best improvement I made on the boat. The price is reasonable, the sail modification isn't difficult, and the quality is really good for the money. I installed mine myself. If you have to cut off the foil to fit your forestay - measure carefully, check it, then measure it again. Mine ended up working fine, but I trimmed it off a few inches short (still not sure how it happened.) Have a friend who knows something about furlers, etc. around to help. The upshot is - do it, you'll be amazed at how it will change the enjoyment of your sailing.

CDI

All I'm gonna say is my CDI roller furler was 22 years old when one of the lower drums broke. I called CDI directly and they STILL had replacement parts. This sure beats buying a whole new unit. Real nice in the days where thing seemed to get outdated within a year of ownership.
