Looking to add a roller furling system to my 87 Hunter 23. There are several on the market. Called around and there appear to be 3 preferred choices, the Schaefer Marine Snapfurl Cf-500, CDI-FF2, or the Hood Sea Flex Furler. Anyone already attempted this task? Any helpful information is appreciated. Thanks, Keith Brown 87 Hunter 23 Alexandria, VA

Caution

Just a note. Notice that Hood calls the unit a "furler" and not a "Reefer". If it is a continuous loop line (Model LD), then it may not reef the sail for you. In time, as the continuous loop line gets older, stretched (thinner) and smoother, it may not hold the intended reef and slip out. I learned this on my '88 L37 and upgraded to the single line (Model SL) reefer solely for that reason. Hood does not mean to mislead the buyer, but the buyer should be aware that this can happen. They actually advertise the LD model as a low-cost roller furler without a reefing ability.

Snapfurl

I have the Snapfurl on my 1988 Hunter 23. It works great. I can reef the sail if I want too. The best money I spent on the boat.
