I want to add a CDI FF2 roller furling to my 86 H23. The roller furling goes over the forestay but the forestay doesn't attach to the deck, it attaches inside the anchor locker. That means the drum of the roller furling would be below the deck. Any ideas on how to attach a roller furling to the H23?

Yes. I put a CDI FF2 on my '86 h23 also. Works great, but the drum has to be above the anchor locker hatches. To do this, buy a couple of 12" long ss tangs or chain plates and bolt them to your existing headstay attachment plate, one on each side to keep load equal. Then you'll have to have your head stay shortened 12 inches. Mine had stretched some over the years, which caused excessive rake in the mast, so I had mine shorten 14" while I was at it. If you don't have 2" to let out of the back stay (and shrouds to a lesser degree), you can add a longer attachment plate at the yoke of the split back stay to make up the difference if you are having excessive rake also. If you need more info or have any problems, you can e-mail me direct at: ernierogers@sailnet.net

I concur with Ernie. You must shorten the stay to get the drum above deck.
