Out for a sail yesterday in brisk winds, my roller furling jammed up. This is a 15 year old two line endless loop system. What happened on this furler was that there is a wedge-shaped piece of plastic which I think serves to keep the two parts of the endless-loop line apart as they enter and exit the drum. It looks like this lost a screw or a bolt and so this plastic piece ended up jammed between the drum and one of the parts of the furling line. If so, all I need is a good tight screw. However, sometimes what seems to be so ain't, and of course being male I always jump to the conclusion that all anything needs ias the aforementioned good tight screw. I'd be curious if anyone knows this piece of machinery well enough to give me some advice (advice other than replacing it, please).
