Bearings on my roller furling were frozen when I bought the 1980 Hunter 30' last summer. Have the replacement bearings and tried to remove the old ones. After spraying with Blaster and "tapping" with a wood block for 3 days the bearings broke loose. Was unable to remove drum and assembly. Have been using it since but would like to do it right when on the hard this winter. Any suggestions on the brand and proceedure?

Have contacted Hunter and a roller furling was not an option on the 1980 30'. Will try to get some photos next time I'm at the boat.

A lot of Cherubinis either came with the Hyde Streamstay or had them added. You can compare yours to: http://www.rigrite.com/furling/hyde/hyde.html . Here is a picture of mine. Took it off the boat and have a new Harken to install in the spring. The Hyde is a solid rod furler, the furling rod is the forestay. There is no separate wire forestay.

Thanks Ed, but mine is different with a heavy wire guide(bent in a circle at the end) where the furling line enters the drum. Will keep searching.

I have seen that furler. Just two stamped round plates with one heavy wire guide between the plates. Compared to mine the diameter of the drum looks larger. I want to say it is an older ProFurl but I cannot locate a picture of one.
