I have just finished up my first year of sailing and can't wait for spring. Since the majority of my time is single handing I wanted to add a roller furling to my Catalina 27 tall rig. I would be interested in advice on which one to purchase, experiences good and bad. I would like to put the 155 genoa on it. My current setup is a tape drive not hank on. Will that sail set-up work or will it need to be modified? Thanks for the input.

re roller furling

I have a 1984 catalina 27 tall rig with a 150% jenny I wanted a low cost option so i went with a simplique furler made in quebec canada as Ihad one on my previous 24 ft Challenger and it worked perfect.it is low tech with no bearings, one slot for #6 luff tape guaranteed for life the cost for one for my 27 tall rig was less than $900.00 canadian including shipping.inclosed find link to site http://www.alignement.com/simplicite/ hope this helps you

Furlers

I'd check out the August 15 issue of Practical Sailor. If you are not a subscriber you can download the article (for a small fee) from their website.

Check out Spin-Tec

Hi Gary - I've sailed boats with Spin-Tec and they seem to work well, and they are priced right! Check out the info (make sure to read the owner reviews) at the Related link below. Regardless of which brand you end up with, you'll love the convenience of furling. Best, Trevor
