I would like to know if anyone has any experience with installing a furling system on a Hunter 22. The two models I am interested in are the Schaefer Snapfurl and the CDI Flexible Furler. I assume either will work equally fine, but would like some input on this. Also I would like to know what size headsail would be best for this type of application. Some of my concerns are having too much sail for heavy conditions and when partially furled will I loose too much sail shape to get the boat to sail efficiently. If anyone has had some experience with this I could use some help. Thanks Tom Cross

CDI furler for H22

I have a CDI furler on my H22 which was installed by the previous owner (he said not too difficult to install) size 6 luff tape ; your concerns about sail shape when reefed are legitimate - you can always add additional blocks on the toerails and use them since there's no genoa tracks on the boat. Frankly, I just use one set of blocks and reef the genoa when wind gets too strong without concern for sail shape (over 15 mph - I have about a 125% size which I bought used)- if wind gets any stronger I just pull the genoa in completely since the boat sails well under mainsail alone. The CDI works fine-have no complaints- and it frees up the jib halyard in case you need it for a spinnaker
