Roller Furler for my birthday.....now what?

I am stoked.....Lori bought me a CDI FF2 roller furler. I figured I would just have a UV cover sewn on and the luff rope. Well we are at $530.00 for this and I am thinking I should look in to the costs on a new sail.

Who is the best (keeping price in mind) resource for a Genoa for my 23.5
presently it is considered 130% at 26.25 luff, 13' foot and 24.5 leech.

Last question: Shoud I consider going to a 150% Genoa for my boat so long as I am making the investment......? Pros and Cons.

Chip, unless you're racing or in an area where winds are light most of the time, you'll not need a 150. A 130 does pretty well and can be reefed down to ~100 should the winds start to get too strong. The smallest you can take a 150 is about 125% before it loses all shape. Does the 23.5 have a fixed jib block or is it on a track? If fixed, you'll need to add some hardware to move the lead rearward if a 150 is used.
Check the used sails sites; Bacon, Atlantic Sail Traders, The Sail Warehouse, Masthead Sailing Gear; you might find a nice one that will fit for a lot less than a new one. Just make sure it has the right sized tape as well.
For a new one, this site does well.

Chip, I put the same CDI-II roller furler on my h23 last year. I was told the biggest recommended genoa for my boat was a 135. I took that advice and I am not sorry. I purchased a Gus Sails 135 because they are local. I had to purchase a new forestay because of my chain plate configuration in my anchor locker. 2 nights ago I just unfurled about 10 % up to 60 % of it with my main all the way up. If it gets windy I just drop the main and furl out what ever I need to get back in. I have pictures of mine in my profile. You will love it. Charles

Will look for the used ones. Have not had much luck with that. Will keep trying. I got a price of 500.00 to sew on to my sail. Seems a bit high.

Chip, Give Gus Sails a call. If I remember correct I just paid $595 for the whole new sail with navy Subrella. gussails.net Charles
