Hve just bought a 1983 34 Hunter. I want to add a roller furler. Any recommendations for boat this size and age?

h34 Furler Suggestions

If money is no object get a Furlex. It's difficult to get a reasonable discount on them. The second choise which is available at a reasonable price is the Profurl system. If I was to purchase one today for my h34 it would be a Profurl. One of the best places to buy it is from JSI in Florida. Barry s/v "PER DIEM too"

Harken

I have a 1979 H33 and installed Harken roller furling on it last year. I looked at lots of different makes and models but thought the Harken was the best. I bought mine and had it installed through my local North Sails. Good luck.

Lets face facts

Hi James, Don't get me wrong, I like my H34 very much and it has given me much pleasure, BUT, we are talking about a teenaged boat, that was,and is,a production boat. The bottom line here is,a Cruising design furler system will work just fine at possibly half the cost of the others. Mine is at least 10 years old, put in new bearings 3 years ago because I replaced the forestay and had the unit apart anyway. I have had no problems at all. John sv 50-50

Bought a Profurl last year

Bought a Profurl last year and with some help from a friend installed it myself. The only problem that I have had is adjusting the entry of the line into the drum to prevent the line from wrapping out of the drum. The installation took a full day. I chose the Profurl due to a product review by Practical Sailer. A local racer suggests Harken if you are racing.
