Hey y'all,

Is it ok to attach the forestay/roller furler to the aft hole on the bow of the boat? Crazy Dave told me to attach it to the forward hole. I didn't ask why when we were talking. I haven't been able to get in touch with him recently to ask what the problem will be if I use the aft one. Where do y'all attach yours? Will the aft hole work? Thanks!

I like the aft hole. Use it on my boat all the time.:D

Honestly, I can't see much of a difference, unless it significantly changes the furler fairlead. Maybe Dave'll chime in.

Kermit;

I have been logging. It should be in the hole toward the aft sir. On many furlers if in the forward hole, the bottom of the drum is at an angle over the aft hole and rubbing against the forestay chainplate which is not good. If the bottom of the drum clears and no where is it rubbing against anything, there should not be a problem.

The load from the forestay is much better distributed in the aft hole.

Well dang! I should have asked this a LONG time ago. Dave, I obviously heard you wrong. Thanks for the clarification. And thanks to everyone else for your replies. I guess I have a forestay to move!
