Looking at a new roller furling system for my Hunter 22. Would like to hear opinions concerning the one piece PVC extrusions they are using for the furler. My old system has metal sections which are jointed.

Thanx in advance.

It would help to identify which furler you are looking at but assuming CDI as the one you are hinting to. First, there are no joints that will interfere with the raising and lowering of the sail. It has its own internal halyard; thus no issue of any halyard wrap, much simpler to get into the drum if you have to work on it, plastic but resilient to UVB sunlight with a lifetime warranty as long as you own it and if it bends, there is no problem that this extrusion can be hurt. In fact you can run a car over the extrusion and not hurt it.

I knew the original owner of the mfg. and was the guinea pig until it was perfected. Introduced the system or FF2 to many sailboat manufaacturers.

Only one issue and that is arriving in a box coiled up. Besides yourself, get two more people and on the ground, bend it back and secure with big tie wraps and let it sit in the sun for the day. Loosen up and it strainhtens up. Then follow the instructions and over time it will be really straight.
