Greetings Odayers,

I just purchased a1989 322 and love her. I have a problem with the mainmast furling system. I cannot furl or unfurl the main from the cockpit. Even with the blocks and mechanical advantage it is impossible, even with the winch. Each time I have to go up on deck and do it at the mast. Any solutions?

It shouldn't work that hard. I'd open the drum and check the ball bearings. One thing you don't want to do is break your fore stay and have your mast fall back toward you. I have a CDI Roller Furler FF-2 that is small enough to where I can get away without the ball bearings. I was told that they can bind up from corrosion. My drum spins on a washer. I really don't know all that much about furlers outside of that.

He said, "mainmast furling system" and not foresail furling. Does he have some sort of furling main???
