I need to tune my standing rigging. The rod rigging below decks seem to be too tight. I have demples where they attach to the sides of the hull. Can they be adjusted with the mast standing? The manual recommends re bedding the deck fitting and adjusting the tension until there is slight movement. Any suggestions? Thanks Doug

Loosen turnbuckles on shrouds

Hi Doug - I would loosen the shrouds by easing the turnbuckles. Dimples where the chainplate supports enter the deck? I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are enountering, but I would disassemble to see what's going on. If you could post a photo I might be able to understand better. Regarding tuning the rig, you might consider investing in a Loos Gauge (available at West Marine) - see Related link below. It's not necessary (better if you can find one to borrow), but helpful to make sure the rig tightness is equal on both sides of the mast. You basically want the mast in column. Make adjustments and go sailing. If the leeward shrouds are really loose, tighten them up. Tack and do the same on the other side. Hope this helps, Trevor
