Hello all and can anyone confirm what size rocna anchor I need for a h41ac as looking at the sizing guide on the rocna site it says for 12m boat and mass less than 10t (H41 is 8800kg?)
That 20kg is suitable.

20kg would be OK but I’d recommend a size up if it would fit on your roller. An anchor is never too big in a squall at o-dark hundred. (I have a 20 kilo Rocna on a 39’ tri and would have gone up a size if my sprit didn’t limit me. The hoop would interfere with my sprit if I go larger.)
OTOH if I was in the market today I’d look at Mantus based on the anchor resetting videos posted by SV PANOPE on YouTube. My Rocna always sets but (unless the bottom is loose sand or gravel) it also brings up a ball of seabed, and those videos show the Mantus is better at resetting. As for size, the only time we’ve ever dragged was backing down in deep oozing mud bottom, and it was a slow movement. It would have been better on that occasion to have a larger anchor or deploy the Fortress; but I didn’t due to the settled weather at the time and decided it was good enough for conditions, and we stayed put.
PS a washdown pump is a wonderful help if you get any hoop style anchor.

+1 to @Captain Larry-DH . The price difference is minimal for a few kg more, and with a windlass the weight is unimportant. After the first season, I promise you will never set your anchor and think, “I wish I had saved that $75 on the anchor.” Study anchor setting and you’ll see that only scope and weight at the anchor matters, not sentinels or chain etc.

Don’t think that your boat actually weighs the manufacturer stated light weight. I’ll bet it’s at least a ton or two more. Those weights are as it leaves the factory, without sails, water, fuel, people, food, etc. Do you have the real weight that you cruise at?

When sizing anchors I think windage matters more than boat weight. Boats with higher freeboard, big dodgers and cockpit enclosure, and multihulls should size up.

Your boat sailing ready, provisioned and loaded with crew most certainly weights more than 9,000 kg. When I switched to the Manson Supreme (similar to the Rocna) from a CQR I was struck by the much larger fluke area of the Manson. Find that it sets and holds well on short scope. Size: 60 lbs., all-chain 10mm BBB.

I have a 25 kg Rocna on our Hunter 410. It fits, and is easy to set. Very happy with the anchor.
