I spent a quiet day in Chesapeake City with rain drizzling down as I dozed and read. Bob T stopped by to pick up his jacket. Everyone who comes aboard the boat for a sail leaves something. Aside from that and a brief visit aboard Robin, Ex. Syltu, it was a day of lazy rest.

I woke up to chill even with the cabin heater going due to a couple of ports I had left open to regulate the heat. I switched on the radiator driven by the Newport diesel cabin heater for the first time since last winter. I only had to use this supplement a couple times last year so I knew it was cold out.
Heading down the canal, the air had that deep chill that tells you frost can’t be far behind. Hard to believe that Bob and I were sitting in almost uncomfortable heat just a couple days before. I saw only the hint of fall colors coming down the C &D to the anchorage but the trees now looked as if I had fallen asleep for a couple of weeks. A year ago, I was still in Mystic yet here I was in the cockpit wearing gloves.
The wind was fair but to light to motivate me to set sails in the cold and slat away on a run so I just kept the engine running until I let the anchor go in Worton Creek where I spent a quiet night listening to the rain on the cabin top.
I got in touch with Rich H but he is under the weather so my meeting the fellow who was such a help in designing my fuel polishing system will have to wait.
I’ll be underway as soon as the rain blows through. I haven’t quite decided on a destination yet. The winds are predicted to be strong so I may not want to try the channel into Kent Narrows. I may run up to Chestertown which I have always wanted to see although that stretch up the open part of the river may be a bit lively.
