I bought an S2, 7.3 (24 Ft.) and the seller said it was equipped with a spinnaker (I have the sail), a boom vang and a cunnijgham. However, he didn't know how to rig it and neither do I. Where can I find out how to rig these?
Umberto: Start with the boom vang and cunningham.
The boom vang holds the boom in its plane (prevents it from lifting) to keep the shape of the mainsail. It attached to the mast near the deck and to the boom about 35 or 40% of its length back from the mast. The vang will make about a 35 or 40 degree angle from the deck at the attachment point.
The cunningham is a line to pull the bottom of the mainsail at the mast down to help control its shape. (he halyard pulls the top of the main, a cunningham pulls the bottom in a similar fashion). It usually attaches one end on the mast below the boom, runs up through a grommet/eyelet a few inches above the foot of the sail, then to the deck and back to a cleat or line clutch.
Spinnaker setup is a bit more comlex. Google, how to set up a spinnaker. I'm sure you will get plent of hits.
Good luck. Enjoy your S2. Take care of her; she'll take care of you.
