Will installing a rigid boom vang stop the vibration noise heard in the topping lift line? If so, how about some ideas on which ones work best and are they easy to install.

My vote goes to Garhauer
There's other quality products out there but my dollars go to this family owned and run business that is really responsive when you have a question. Oh yeah, they showed up at the St. Pete boat show when many others bailed.
As kiprichard says, all your problems with the lift go away when you remove it. Mine came off 9 years ago and I've never missed the banging, clanging, tangling, chafing, etc.

Slacking off the topping lift usually stops the vibration.
By slacking I mean just easing it so the vibration stops!
Remember the topping lift may be the ONLY means of reaching the masthead if the main halyard parts. If too thin then it can be used to pull a stronger line through for the bosun's chair.
This is why I kept my topping lift.
BTW: If your mooring is a bit rolly and there is not enough tension in the topping lift/main sheet to prevent the boom swinging about and causing wear and nuisance then use a line from each end of the traveller to stop this. I have a snap hook made up to two permanent thin lines for this purpose.

Rigid Boom Vang from Garhauer is the best sail control item added to my boat - about five years ago. Garhauer is easy to work with and have good pricing. My old topping lift cable is tied off to the side just in case it is needed for something? Don't know what it may be needed for, but there it is.
Suggest contacting Mark at Garhauer Marine at 909-985-9993 to discuss sizing (easy to measure) and mounting brackets to mast and boom for a solid boom vang model RV 20-1SL for 28-44 ft boats. Each is custom made for each boat. I recently installed that one on a Hunter 31 without a topping lift. Once you install the boom vang you may be able to eliminate the topping lift. Photos attached.

I installed a Garhauer solid vang on my Hunter 33.5. Works great. Disconnected the the topping lift and tied it off at the mast. I use it to help support the boom when I am un-stepping the mast.
