I took the mast down last summer and noticed a slight bend to it.The bend in the middle gives me trouble getting the lower shrouds an even tension.When i get the mast straight ,the shroud pulling the bend out of the middle always ends up being under more tension. Any suggestions besides a new mast?

Go to a professional rigging shop, those guys love to yarn, they get mucho business that way or hire a rig surveyor from SAMS and he will be working for you, with full insurance coverage to back him up. I see som much mis information on this site that, though I am an even temperd guy, these wanna bees that don't know shit are DANGEROUS. You get what you pay for, and many live-aboards, sneak-aboards are self-appointed experts that have never been on the ocean.Take their "advice"?

Leekaboo, No, they don't work for free, but most rig shops I know of, the guys will give free, shoot-the-shit information, if they are not busy. No, don't do it that way, yeah, doin it that way is okay. There are well-meaning people here, but I have written a few pieces that were wrong turns when I reevaluated it later, "did I write that, Oh shit"! I did that once when advising a fellow on his keel, a mistake that could have been dangerous, I did write back with a correction but how do I know if the guy read it? I been sailing since I was a kid and a professional for 25 years, if I can make a simple mistake so can others, but I see folks advising that obviously do not know what they are talking about. These kind of folks use to believe that the earth was flat, and were lothe to give up that "fact".

Longer? Ron is right, I do boats for a living also. I have seen some real bad advice and some real good also. How do you weed it out. Go to the pro's. I mention a couple of facts about brand X and people loose it. I too have given some bad info, usually worded wrong, Rewrote my info, but, I am never sure they got the corrected advise.
