You can get information as to rigging and sailing at http://boonedocks.net/daysailer/#information Regarding the DePersia self bailer, essentially, we owners collectively think that the drain-pop up dosen't work. Supposedly while moving you pop up the top and water is sucked out. Often we have found that water comes in, what can you do! I pulled the top off the other day and using the shop vac sucked out the metal ball inside. I will give it a try and see if it works any better. Some say they have a plastic floating ball in theirs, but they don't seem to get much better cooperation from this gizmo. There is no book on this boat, but there is the original one page manual that came with it. The contents can be found at http://boonedocks.net/daysailer/ds2man.html As for the mast. it is stepped as follows: Make a mast crutch that sits in the rudder pintles and holds up the back end of the mast. Place the rear mast pin through the tabernacle (if you have a hinged mast) and the corresponding holes in the base of the mast. Attach the side shrouds. Using the jib halyard and a short extension of rope tied to the stemhead. Start walking forward and the mast up, first on your shoulder, then with one hand overhead while inside the cockpit, and keeping the jib halyard tight. It will pivot on the rear tabernacle pin and be stabalized by the side shrouds. When the mast is vertical, cleat the jib halyard. It is now safe to move forward to the stemhead and attach the forestay. It is easier with two people, but can be done with one. If your mast is stepped on the floor of the cuddy, search the discussion group on the site http://boonedocks.net/talkboard/talkboard.php3?mode=view&group=daysailer with the keywords one piece mast. Also note that the daysailer site will be moving shortly, but all of the information will move to the new site. Congratulations on your acquisiton of a daysailer. You will have lots of fun with it. I have an expanded Manual

I have created an expanded Owners Manual for the Day Sailer II. It is about 20 pages and contains an updated version of the original text from the O'Day supplied "manual". more diagrams (spanning the 15 year production run of the DS II), rigging lengths, and other info. I do ask for $7.00 for printing and publishing, but those that have ordered the manual always say it was worth it. Contact me at daysailermanual@juno.com
