What do you mean by "rig"?

What do you mean by rig and how big a boat we talking about? Are you talking about adjusting/securing standing rigging? When I had the mast stepped on my C27 the boys at the yard operated the crane and I secured all the standing rigging myself and later tuned the rigging myself too. If you're talking about running rigging, I've single-handedly changed halyards too without any trouble. If you're referring to actually hoisting sails and single-handing your boat, that is all up how your boat is set up and your ability. Sailors single-hand boats of every size all the time. I know that my boat is not up to single-handing and more importantly, I know my ability is not up to single-handing either.

Rigging a C-22

We rig ours every time we put it in the water which is weekly throughout the boating season. Can't see it being much different for larger trailerable boats since you have to break it down every time you launch her. If your talking about changing the rigging, there really isn't much difference. Buy the kit from Catalina Direct, they come pre-measured and just pull one off and replace it with the new one. Should be 6 shrouds, a forstay and a backstay and that's it. Pretty simple actually. You might make a change in the backstay by changing it to a split back stay. The other thing I changed in my boat was the original turnbuckles. I bought openfaced ones from West Marine for $24.00 each (8 of them). Wrap the ends with rigging tape, rig the boat, raise the mast, tune it up and go sailing. You might even consider doing the all rope halyards at that time. Campy C-22 #2226 "Windsocket"
