Rigging the Boom

We've recently acquired a Mariner 2 2 in bad need of repair, which apparently is not so uncommon. Unfortunately we had to replace the boom, the old one is no where to be found. So my question is, does anyone have any kind of a diagram or picture of the rigging of the boom. We believe we're still missing blocks but don't know what kind, size, or placement of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've been in contact with Stuart Marine but they don't have any manuals currently so we're trying to do this on our own.Sharon

Sharon -I would contact the Mariner class association; I put the link at the bottom of the page. If the can't help you for some reason, I just go find a local rigger and have him or her figure it out. Most booms are rigged similarly, and looking at the location of the traveler, vang, etc will let someone work it out.Justin _ O'day Owners' Web

Sharon:I have a 1975 Mariner (project). I read somewhere that they changed the mainsheet rigging that year. My setup runs from a block at the end of the mainsheet attached about 2/3 from the mast end of the boom, down to a fiddle block with a cam located behind the centerboard housing on the deck of the cockpit, back up thru the block on the boom, and back down to the fiddle block, and thru the cam. If you have a fiddle block in your cockpit, this is your setup. Otherwise, you should have some kind of attachments on either side of the stern for a traveller system. Hope this helps.
