Good day once again folks and others,

My H30 has the mast unstepped and I'll be stepping it soon using a crane and copious safety measures.

The boat being new to me I'm not 100% confident in how the main sheeting/traveler, jib sheeting setups are routed and run. The jib is roller furled.

If anyone has a picture or two that would be of help I'd be forever in your debt.

Many thanks,

Jim

You probably should be posting these questions on the Cherubini forum Jim. That is where most of the H30 owners hang out. While you wait for one to respond a question. Have you bent on a furling jib before? If yes then I guess the question is just how to rig the furling line and jib sheets. My furling line runs down the port side using about five small blocks attached to the toerail. The first block at the bow is important to get a fair lead from the drum to that block. My boat has a small cam cleat on the port cockpit coaming that the furling line runs through. But I also secure it on the stern cleat when furled.

I never knew how the H30 mainsheet was originally run. I assume your traveler is on the bridgedeck like mine. Regardless many of us have changed to keeping it all in the cockpit. I use 4:1 with a cam cleat on the bottom fiddle. Most use at least 6:1. There was a traveler thread recently that had some pictures. Best ones on page 2 but also one on page 1: http://forums.hunter.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=125506&page=2.

As for the jib sheets I assume like mine you have snatch blocks for the toerail. Unless, of course, a previous owner added tracks to the side decks.

My 79 h30 mast is down as well until Friday. If you can wait til the weekend, I'll take pics and post them. I can only help with the main, boom, sheet, and traveler, as I don't have a roller furled jib. Let me know any specifics that you need in these areas.

JD, sorry, but my schedule has changed and mast won't be up until next week. I'll get the pics posted as soon as I can.

H30 Rig pics

Here are some pics of my rig. Not sure they're what you need...
Let me know.
Pic 1: Traveller with car, main sheet and bottom block.
Pic 2: Main sheet, top block attached to boom bale.
Pic 3: Mast base with steaming light wire and mast head/anchor light wire
(Both unplugged with female deck fittings shown).
Pic 4: Back stay at splitter with fixed topping lift tied off to back stay, waiting for install of shroud cleat to tie off permanently
(fixed topping lift unused, as I have adjustable topping lift rigged as well).

Next post has more.

Next set:
Pics 1 & 2 & 4: Goose neck with out haul rope dangling, and main halyard on winch on starboard side of mast.
Pic 3: Boom supported by adjustable topping lift, with slab reefing line tied to boom (Waiting for main sail install) and with main sheet attached to bale.
Pic 5: Boom with out-haul shackle nesting in main sail track (just to keep it from hanging off the rear end of the boom).

Hey Driver, I have an "Oops" in my description/pics that may not apply to your situation: Post #8, pic #4 the line dangling from the gooseneck fitting is the slab (jiffy) reef control line...
The outhaul control line is not in the pic of the gooseneck fitting, (as I discovered the day after taking the pics), as it somehow got pulled from the shackle end and the control end that should come through the boom, over the top of the pulley (sheave) at the gooseneck, was residing inside the boom.
Now for the bad news: I pulled the shackle end of the out haul (connected by wire) until I found a two wheel pully attached to the wire cable and one turn of the control line running through the larger diameter pulley. I ran a section of the old shroud through the boom as a fish, attached the bitter end of the control line to it after putting only one turn in the line through that pulley. I pulled this assemblage through the boom, only to find that the control line should have gone around both pulleys, in sequence. Problem is, I don't yet know what that second turn around the internal pulley is supposed to mate with inside the boom or at the goose neck.

If any of you Cherubinni owners out there have re-rigged your boom that may be similar to mine please chime in. It may be that there is another internal pulley attached to the through bolt just aft of the goose neck. If so, I'll have to de-rig the boom and remove the goose neck from the boom to find it. I don't have a clue and your knowledge could save me a very frustrating process of discovery.
Thanks, G.

Thanks Ed. I'll look around the RR site for clues on the internals. If you come across the pic please post or PM me.
Thanks,
G.
