Good Place to Start
Eric I found with my CAT 22 the best place to start was Catalina Direct 1 800 959 7245 for like $8.00 they will send you a owners handbook that they put out and then for another $2.50 you can obtian a copy of the actual manual that comes withtheboat new. They are both big helps. As for stepping it is easy Hook the aft, port and starboard mains. Attach a line to bow line. Place the butt of the mast at the plate. Have a crew member pull on your line while you walk the mast up to vertical. The attach the bow line and attache the remaining halarids and tune the mast. I use a 2x6 with a notch cut in it and then a board to make an inverted T as a resting point before i go all the way up with it. It also helps when you bring it down. Happy Sailing.
