Running Rigging on our '77 h27
Here is the way halyards and sheets are run on our '77 model. I am not aware of changes in later models, but they are possible.
Main Halyard (Original)
Wire from the head of the main to a masthead pulley forward to a second masthead pulley then down the front of the mast, switching to line.
Secured to a winch and cleat on the mast.
Genny/Jib Halyard (Original)
Line from the head of the jib to a masthead pulley aft to a second masthead pulley then down the back of the mast.
Secured to a second winch and cleat on the mast. (I believe the second winch may be a P.O. addition.)
Spinnaker Halyard (We added this.)
We mounted a bail at the masthead the projects forward of the mast, and of the forestay. There is a block on the bail.
The line halyard goes from the head of the sail to the block, and back down the front of the mast to a cleat.
Main Sheet (Original)
A five-fold fall runs from a bale at the end of the boom to a traveler aft of the cockpit side seats, and forward of the rudder post. I have seen original mainsheets rigged mid-boom, without a traveler, to u-bolts on either side of the cabin roof; and cabin-top travelers rigged mid-boom. Most if not all of the mid boom travelers are owner mods.
Genny Sheets (Original)
These run aft outside all other rigging to blocks on snap shackles mounted to the toerail, then inside the lifelines to winches mounted on the cockpit coaming.
Spinnaker Sheets (our mod)
These run from the clew to a turning block on a snap shackle at the aft end of the toerail, then forward to the sheet winch on the cockpit coaming.
Hope this helps.
