I am in the process of trying to buy a Hunter 260 re-possed by a bank. The boat has neither a trailer or owners manual. The guy who picked it up for the dealer just released the mast from the foot and laid it down resting on some chunks of styrofoam and tied it down. I am getting a new trailer for the boat but do not know what else is needed to properly stow the mast while trailering like a cradle or some such thing. Some sort of thing like the Macgregor uses I guess. I hear all sorts of stuff on how easy it is to raise the mast on the Hunter 260. It does not look easy to me. Can anyone give me some help I sure would appreciate it. The dealer who sells these boats for the banks is useless when it comes to answering any questions. Thanks for any help. P.S. Where do I get an owners Manuel for a Hunter 260?

The mast sits in the u-shape of the bow pulpit. It rests on an aluminum crutch that goes through a whole at the stern of the boat. If you don't have the crutch, I'm sure you can get one from hunter or a dealer.

You need four things to properly rig the boat for trailering: 1. Gin Pole, 2. Crutch, 3. mainsheet. 4. Trailer. Also lots of bungies and cable ties. Contact Hunter and explain the situation. It is easy....
to raise and lower the mast, with the 4 things George lists above. Read the manual and practice a few times. Better two have 2 people the first time, but eventually you can do it yourself. It's not rocket science, just something you have to prepare correctly for. Bought a repo boat myself, great deal.

Also, have you checked owners directory
for owners of 26 and 260 near you? (26 and 260 are basically the same boat.) Looks like a lot of them in TX, I count 35 all together. Probably someone near you that would be glad to show you how things work in exchange for a beer, rib, etc. Email em all and ask. Can't hurt.
