Rigging an O'Day 272 LE

I'm new to the big boat thing and I have my boat in the water. We hooked up the Genoa and main on Sunday but I have questions about what seems like extra out-haul lines at the aft end of the mast and I’m not sure about how to rig the block for the backstay. Does anyone know where I can get information on how to properly rig the boat? She's a 1987 O'Day 272 LE and I have a spinnaker also.

Depending on the mast ...

on the Isomat ... there are two slots at the top front for two spin halyards and below I think two slots for two jib halyards. You may have the Main halyard going back and you may have a line for a topping lift. That would be six out of the bottom?What kind of spin are you using? A or S?I don't have a block on the back stay.Vic "Seven"

Mast questions

I am not sure what Spinnaker came with the boat. I had it out just to inspect it. It did come with a sock to dose it. What are the 3 or 4 line at the aft end of the mast for? One is the out haul. Would the other be an outhaul for reffing? Anyone out there using the 2 pulley adjustable backstay? I am wondering the best spot to hook the block and line to the boat. Thanx

Im new to the oday world but very impressed. whatis the difference between a 272 and a 27 in performance and comfort? thanks

Boom ... has out haul and Reef 1 and 2 ...

and maybe the topping lift latched on from the top of the mast.The mast is really not bendable and not really a good candidate for flexible adjustment ... but the block may have been used to raise the mast.Remember when flying the Spin that the boat is shallow draft and has a short rudder, which has a tendancy to pop out of the water on a beam reach in higher wind. I like broad reach best. But wing on wing with the A spin works too.If you didn't get a spin pole in the deal you probably have a A Spin.Vic "Seven"
