I need help or suggestions as to how to rig my asymmetric spinnaker to the Hunter 340. How should I attach it to the bow area? Where should I position the blocks, etc. I have a sock for it now, but no collar near the tack? There is no toe rail with holes to easily attach the blocks? Any suggestions or instructions would be most appreciated. Thanks you so much. Don

Don, run a tack from the tack through the anchor roller and back to the bow cleat. Another option is to have a coated length of SS cable made with loops on both ends. Attached the lower end to the bow eye (use heavy ss carabiner, run cable through anchor roller and attach a block. Then run the tack line thru the block back to the cleat, or on further aft so it can be adjusted from the cockpit. For the sheets, attach blocks to the loops on the stern pulpit. Sheets run outside of everything, the the block on the stern pulpit, and then up to the winches. Do you have aft winches on your boat?

Rigging an asymmetric

What Andy said about the anchor roller but use a snatch block. Adjusting the tack line when its loaded will be much easier set on a block. Also, run the tack line all the way to the cockpit so there will be no need to go forward to adjust it. For sheets we use fixed stand-up blocks at the stern and twings amidships for lead angle adjustments.

Here's a bowsprit idea...

Here’s an easy-to-make bowsprit, seats in the anchor locker. This will throw the spin ahead of the main, less blanketing. Tack line and 2 sheets permanently deployed for quick setup. (Note that the link here has 2 pages of pix and directions.) Typo correction: Eyelet should be 3/8 inch. http://www.sailboatowners.com/bowsprit.doc

Look at the ATN website

I suggest you take a look at the ATNINC.com site, they have a collar that goes around the roller furling/ headsail that is the tack. I rigged a line on it to a bow cleat that adjusts the height of the collar so that the sail flys above the bow rail. I cant help you with the holes in the tow rail, mine has them, H33.5, PS, the sail will put about a 1 1/2 kts on the boat speed.

Last question : Parrel Beads or Tacker

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I think I know exactly what to do now. My last question is this: To secure the tack around the furled genoa, would you recommend using the Parrel Beads (from Neil Pryde Sails) or the Tacker (from ATN). Any experience with either of these?? Which one works better?? Thanks, Don

Hi Don, our anchor roller has a bar that I use...

to secure a turning block for the tack sheet. It places the tack about three feet in front of the furler, which makes spin tack changes less cumbersome. Terry
