So i picked up a H20, and decided to replace the bent Meriman standing rigging adjusters with swage-on SS turnbuckles (onto 1/8" cable). West Marine online consultant says "no problem - you just need to find a rigger with a rolling swage to have the new turnbuckles attached" Yeah, after two weeks of caling and driving, no luck. I even tried a bench mounted swager at WM, it barely marked the SS stud. Should I trust a manual swager? Anybody know an outfit with rolling swager rig. I am willing to drive to the ajoining states (Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland) if necessary - it's the only thing that's keeping the H20 out of the water.

Try John Eggers Sails

I don't know if South Amboy, NJ is near you but you can call Dave Thompson at 732-721-4667 and see if they can help. I think they have what you are looking for. Bob S/V Gravyboat

Swaging.

Bohdan, I know where you are and Eggers is about 120 miles north! Near me is Winters Sailing Center and they may have what you need-- they did when I used to work there. Phone Brian at 856 461 3291. They are a sail-oriented yard and well-respected in the area. It's about an hour for you-- 295 N to ex.43 and go up Creek Rd to the marina district. Tell 'em I sent you. I am surprised to see Bob G mention Dave Thompson-- if I am correct this is the same Dave Thompson who was Hunter's FIRST New Jersey dealer at Sails Aweigh in Mantoloking, in about 1972. He was an all-round great chap and a good friend of the Luhrs brothers and my late dad. Also-- can anyone tell me if the REAL John Eggers is still up and about? This was Hunter's (and Cherubinis') first 'stock' sailmaker and also a terrific guy to go sailing with. JC 2

To JC2

Your description of Dave Thompson is right on the money. He has always treated me right and I have been dealing with Eggers for about 15 years. He gives you straight talk about your sails and will not sell you anything you don't need. I have nothing but great things to say about Dave and John Eggers Sailmakers. Bob S/V Gravyboat
