Has anyone got any suggestions on rig tuning for a Beneteau 323? I have the traditional full battened main (not furling) and the factory jib. Just cannot seem to get much more than about four knots on an upwind leg in 12 knots true and flat water. Shrouds are about as tight as I dare to make them, and I am not getting any rig pumping in a seaway. Also there is not noticable weather helm. I have noticed that if the leech cord in the jib is loosened, I get a lot of jib flutter, but if it is tightened, I get a "hook" in the leech. Downwind is not a problem, the boat goes really well with the genneker up. Pretty easy to get above 5 knots in 8-9 knots true. Thanks for the suggestions. Doug

I have the same setup and seem to be doing a little better than you are in my 323, but I don't know what I am doing differently. Today, for example, we had winds from 12-19 knots and mostly were doing 5 up to momentary bursts over 6 knots to windward, in some chop. I do find that small changes make an awfully big difference. Lately I have noticed that tightening the jib more than I normally would have seems to pick up the speed to windward. I am a little concerned that the leech seems to touch the shroud and could lead to chafe. I will be interested to see what others comment.
