I have a 1997 Hunter 40.5. I don't have a calibrated elbow, but I do have a Loos and Company tension gage. Does anyone have some figures that might get me in the ballpark? ;-)

No, But Manual?
Short answer, no. However, see page 25 of the owners' manual. No numbers; just procedure. The guys on the right coast might have some preliminary numbers. Good luck! Oh, owners' manual available via PDF under the 40.5 section of Boat Info.
Go to the Seldon Mast website-download their manual- "Hints" -look up section on B&R Rig. note you can prebend mast with the mast up.
The Loos instructions are pretty good for tension and percentage of breaking strain for a range of rigging.
If you don't have them you can download them on the website.
Following the Selden instructions for a B&R rig for the inside wires gave us the mast bend etc we needed.
The Loos gauge gives you an accurate balance on the port and starboard rigging and our 336 sails very well on that basis.
