Riding sails

I am contemplating on buying a anchor riding sail (FinDelta #2 Anchor riding sail - Banner Bay Marine) for my 38'. Has anyone tried this item to reduce sailing at anchor? If so, do they work?

Some say Yes

What type of anchor and rode and chain do you have.
I find my 2007 H-36 sails a lot less since having added 100' of chain and 35lb delta and using a bridle to hold the chain so it goes straight down into water.
The anchor is not the factor but 100' of chain and proper use of the bridle not
only keeps the boat from sailing but also really much better holding and never have a problem with dragging.
I have heard good things about the Banner riding sails and even seen one or 2,
but I spent the $$$ on the 100' of chain for better holding power with my 35lb delta anchor and not buy another anchor and with 100' of chain my delta works great and when out anchored and the wind picks up really wicked I don't worry
and found out the boat sails less to boot.

There are at least a half dozen threads on this subject already. Do a search and you will find more information than you will know what to do with.

I have 38 and have Fin Delta. It slows the swaying dramatically.

Thanks Nick,

I'm usually on my own mooring across the bay which has chain and a short pendant, but still experience significant sailing movement. So, the banner sail may be the best alternative for there, but I will probably invest in more chain for anchoring.

Thanks,
